1.
Slim women are poor feeders
The number of ‘freelance Nutritionists’ willing to
give slim women tips on ‘what to eat’ in order to gain weight is overwhelming.
People, we eat and not just anything but everything! We are just as clueless as
you are on where all the food we eat goes to. Stop asking us to eat unhealthy
foods like fries to gain weight- heard of the phrase ‘do I look like fries?’ that is our tagline!
2. We are all
desperate to gain weight
This is Africa and we know our men are obsessed with
‘big’ girls but that does not mean we are all dying to grow meat. We love being
small and the men in our lives like it that way too! My grandpa (rip), a proper
African man, had six wives and his favorite (according to my nosing) was my
grandma who was the slimmest! He once told me that meat is most sweet when it
is chewed from the bone and that the fun is in struggling to get the meat off
it! Get it?! No one should think that our husbands will miss out on the fun
because we are slim, alar!
3. Mistaking
our boyfriends/husbands for our fathers
This is probably the most annoying of them all.
Somehow most of us slim women tend to be attracted to men who are physically
big, naturally. Nothing however prepares you for the embarrassment you get when
people ignorantly inform you how loving your dad must be to have visited you at
school when it’s your partner they had seen you with! Not to mention a police
officer at a road block casually asking your boyfriend if they are taking their
daughter back to school! Do we look that underage?!
4. Slim women
have ‘attitude’
I do not know why people assume that being slim is
code for meanness. We do not think that we are God’s gift to humanity contrary
to popular opinion. Character varies from one individual to another and is
independent of such things like body size. We have nothing against our
generously sized sisters and most of never make snide remarks about them like
most of you think. I should however mention that we have low tolerance for
‘crap’ seeing as storage space is small!
5. We are all
‘wannabe models’
This is probably a personal rant. I have no idea how I
catwalk naturally and am tired of people thinking am trying to be a model;
well, I am a model already thanks to my size. Our gracefully slim frame has a
lot to do with many of us slim women walking like we own the roads but it has
nothing to do with ‘cheap maringo’ as
most of you gossip about us. For the guys- saying that you know the best
modeling agencies around will not yield desired results if you thought that is
what gets slim women to drop their pants.
The list goes on and on but the most important thing is to
know that we appreciate our small selves very much; good things come in small
packages- our partners know this too well: *things like riding ‘bicycles’ hours
on end without getting tired!*
